heavily armed men laid siege at the station before unleashing the attack. It was gathered that policemen had gallantly fought to repel the attackers, before the two policemen unfortunately paid the supreme price. It was gathered also that the victims were killed inside a nonfunctional filling station close to the station when the murdered officers were trying to repeal the attack.

“It is disheartening that some people still dump refuse in drainages in spite of the efforts of the government toward maintenance of a clean and healthy environment.’’

The ASWAMA boss explained that people should bag their refuse and dispose of them only at designated points for onward evacuation by the agency.

He said: “I must admit that the wellbeing of Ndi Anambra remains utmost in our minds, and as we approach the rainy season, we cannot just watch but also intervene so as to avoid an outbreak of epidemics by ensuring regular removal of refuse across the state’’. He emphasised that the agency would maintain prompt evacuation of wastes on a daily basis in order to achieve a sustainable clean and healthy environment. Mr Akorah, who extolled the efforts of the Gov. Willie Obiano administration in combating dirt in the state, enjoined the citizenry to imbibe the virtue of proper waste disposal.

Nigeria - Umuada Agbaelu (Adaezinwanne) has inaugurated a giant Palm nut Processing Factory to beat economic hardships among rural women.

“Cost of food stuff in our markets rise daily. This is closely linked to insecurity across the country because farmers are unable to assess their farms.

“We had to embark on this project in order to engage our women in meaningful entrepreneurship to beat today’s economic challenges.

“It is also aimed at reducing unemployment among rural women.’’ Speaker Umuada Agbaelu, Mrs Augustina Onwuekwe said this while presenting the modern oil mill factory for inauguration at the factory site, Umuokpalaji Family Square, Agbaelu Village, Akpo.

The Vice-Chairman, Agbaelu Improvement Union (AIU), Mr Nerius Obitolo congratulated the women for conceptualising this impressive project and working hard to actualise it.

He promised AIU his support at every point of need.

Mr Obitolo adds: “you have exhibited a high sense of doggedness to have completed this project.

“Choose among you, persons with good managerial antecedents; make them heads of this factory.

“Work in obedience with them. It takes management and workers cooperation, to reap full benefits of factories like this.’’

Nze Obitolo pleaded with them to be security-conscious, “let every one of you be the security personnel of this factory.

“Report every insecure movement to Agbaelu Vigilance Group. I tell you this in confidence; they will pursue it vigorously and give you good results. “If you do not give them information about insecure movements, they cannot achieve anything as they are humans and not God,’’ he observed. “You have started with Palm nut processing factory, with God on your side, you will also add cassava processing too.’’

The vice-chairman advised women to form cooperatives so as to assess government credit facilities to boost the business.
