Nasarawa Government Delegation Visits IDP Camps In Kadarko And Agyaragu
Nigeria - Nasarawa state Government says it will not fold its arms to see people who have been displaced by the resurgence of hostilities in part of the state wallow in penury.
Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe stated this when he visited Kadarko and Agyaragu IDP camps to sympathise with them over the recent incident that displaced them.
It was the Deputy Governor's second day official visit to the IDPs camp first at Kadarko in Giza Development area with assurances of respite to those taking refuge at the LEA Pilot Primary School who showed eagerness to return to their permanent place of abode.
While sympathizing with the families of those who lost their loved ones as well as those who lost their property and sustained injuries as a result of the hostilities, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe affirmed that government will ensure that it makes life comfortable for them before their safe return home. He said as a responsible government, modalities are being worked out with their leaders to provide relief materials to them and make their neighbours live peacefully with them upon their return, saying the Engineer Abdullahi Sule administration share in their agony.
Similar visit took the Deputy Governor to the IDPs camp in Agyaregu, Jenkwe Development Area where he sued for patience understanding and forgiveness from the people, calling on them to invoke the spirit of togetherness for peaceful coexistence in their communities and the entire state.
Leaders of the two camps visited by the Deputy Governor and his delegation used the medium to appeal to the government and people of Nasarawa state to come to their aid by finding lasting solutions to the frequent attacks on their communities and stressed the need for government to intensify settlement arrangements that will make them engage in farming activities for the cropping season. In their separate remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on conflict management and resolution, Engineer Moses Otundo and the President, Tiv Development Association, Peter Ahemba cautioned against reprisals, and appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for his concern and affection to the Tiv people in the state.
