Onyechi Iruka Installed 8th President Of Rotary Club, Awka Central

Rotarian Onyekachi Iruka has been installed the eighth President of the Rotary Club of Awka Central. He was handed over the symbol of authority by the immediate past President, Rotarian Timothy Nwabunwanne after his valedictory speech in a colourful event in Awka Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that in his inaugural speech, Rotarian Iruka assured of raising the bar of the club and to consolidating on their past achievements.

Other activities that coloured the day were the unveiling of their basic education and literacy project, a fully funded one year scholarship for a female child, unveiling of maternal and child health care project which is a one year fully funded health insurance under the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, and award presentation to the Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, the Anambra State Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mr Muhammadu Mishahu Idris, among others for their vocational, community and leadership excellence services. Some of the awardees including Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha and the Anambra State commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Mr Muhammadu Idris commended Rotary for its contribution towards building a better society and assured of continued support and collaboration.

The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency Dr Simeon Onyemaechi, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Health Insurance and Pension, Mr Dozie Okpalaugo encouraged the people to key into the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency while highlighting the enormous benefits of the scheme. UPSOT The convener of Youth Earnestly Seek Soludo Dr Nelson Omenugha while addressing the gathering noted that what Rotary Club is doing which is basically to encourage a better society through service is worthy of emulation.

The event also featured the induction of new members into the Rotary Club of Awka Central.
