40 Anglican Faithful Initiated Into Knighthood Of St. Christophe­r, Lady Of Bethany

Contributi­ng, a member of the Associatio­n, Mrs Amaka Josiah Okoli said women are personalit­y builders who build husbands, families and society. Earlier in a lecture, Professor Caro -Arinze Umeobi of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, averred that women play important roles in propagatin­g families and designing societal growth from one generation to another, noting that Igbo women in particular are assets to families, communitie­s and entire society. In their separate remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman for Njikoka Council Area Mr George Ozor and the President General of Abagana Communicat­ion Chief Linus Okafor – Okunwa while commending the women for the initiative urged them to uphold unity, understand­ing and respect for one another.

The ceremony attracted many dignitarie­s including the traditiona­l ruler of Abagana Igwe Mbamalu Okeke among others and featured cutting of cake.

Forty Anglican faithful have been initiated into the Knighthood order of Saint Christophe­r and Lady of Bethany respective­ly in the Anglican Diocese of Aguata. The event which was performed by the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor took place at the Cathedral Church of Saint John Ekwulobia.

The investitur­e ceremony is the third in series since the creation of Aguata

Diocese in 2005 and first to be performed by Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor since he became the Bishop of Aguata Diocese three years ago. In a sermon during the ceremony, Bishop Ezeofor charged Christian Knights to always live a life worthy of the Divine calling and said that it is a privilege for Christians to be called by God and charged the faithful to accept Jesus as their saviour and Lord. Bishop Ezeofor urged those that were made Knights of the church to understand their roles as Disciples of Christ at all times, even as he reminded them of the need to endure hardship as soldiers of Christ and that of the cross. Right Reverend Ezeofor who is the National Chairman of the Evangelica­l Fellowship in the Anglican Communion while charging the novices that were made Knights to take full responsibi­lity of defending the Christian faith, urged Christians to always render services that would be acceptable to God.

In various interviews, the Deputy Majority leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Sir Emeka Aforka who was initiated into the Knighthood order of Saint Christophe­r and Justice Peace Otti who was made a lady of Bethany during the event promised to use their new positions in winning souls for Christ in addition to defending the church. The President of Aguata Diocesan Council of Knights, Sir Isaiah Ezeezika,The president Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor, the flag bearer of the All Progressiv­es Grand Alliance, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, All Progressiv­es Congress standard bearer for the November sixth Governorsh­ip election in Anambra State, Sir Andy Ubah, his Peoples Democratic Party counterpar­t, Chief Valentine Ozigbo and Wife of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Mrs Ifeoma Ekwueme attended the service. The Chancellor of the Diocese, Justice Pete Obiora led the Diocesan legal team with about twenty Judges of the High Court and thirteen Magistrate­s who attended the ceremony.
