Anambra State Government says the perpetrators of the dastardly act against the Police in Obosi road, Onitsha, have been apprehended. Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana, reports that Governor Willie Obiano stated this during his usual monitoring exercise in some parts of the State. Recall that on Sunday, nineteenth September, 2021, some gunmen set ablaze one Police van on patrol, attacked and shot one officer and two others in Onitsha. Around the areas monitored by the Governor, economic activities are gradually returning, as most banks along Ziks Avenue and Enugu – Onitsha Expressway were open, while visible economic activities were also observed at Eke Awka market and environs, even as commuters were seen traveling freely as well. The Governor also made stops at AforIgwe market, Umudioka and Oye-Agu market, Abagana, where socioeconomic activities were equally on top gear, and he made some purchases as a way of encouraging traders. Governor Obiano, who advised Ndi-Anambra to continue to go about their lawful duties, promised to continue to provide security in the State, and recalled the security situation in the state before he assumed office, urging residents to continue to support his administration.

On his part, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, said Government cannot stand akimbo and allow orders from non-state actors to persist, stressing that the situation will only affect the State economy. The Palace Secretary of Umudioka Royal Cabinet, Chief Peter Ikegbunam, Chairman of AforIgwe market, Mr. Dennis Okwuosa and his Oye-Agu counterpart, extolled Governor Obiano for being proactive and having interest in Anambra communities, assuring that the citizens will continue to support his administration.

Meanwhile, a dispatch motorcyclist, who was knocked down by a Toyota Camry at Roban Junction, Awka, on his way to delivery, has been rescued by Governor Obiano, who witnessed the incident and had to stop his convoy to assist the victim. Medical team and ambulance attached to the Governor’s convoy conveyed the victim to a nearby hospital.
