AS part of measures to ensure sustainable development, the Delta State government yesterday urged the people to monitor projects being executed in their communities.

The State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye called on residents of the state to stop dropping waste in drainages and stressed the need for viable community sanitation.

He gave the charge while inspecting the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the 24 kilometre Nsukwaejeme-aniogor-agboraladinma-owa-alidinmandemili road, which cuts across three local government areas of Aniochasouth, Ndokwa-west and Ikanorth East local government areas of the state.

He stated that the state ministry of works was going into partnership with the ministry of environment to manage debris and silts on drains around the state.

He appealed to host communities to cooperate with contractors to ensure smooth execution of projects sited in their domains.

While inspecting the ongoing rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the 39-kilometre Kwale-ogume road, Augoye disclosed that all 25 local government councils of the state have been covered in execution of projects.

He said the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa government was poised to deliver quality projects that would engender prosperity for all people of the state.

Meanwhile, the youths of Udu have suspended the 14day ultimatum handed the management of Premium Steel and Mines Limited (PSML) the new investors in the former Delta Steel Company Ovwian-aladja.

The youths under the aegis of the Udu Progressive Union (UPU) Youth Wing, suspended the ultimatum following resolutions from meetings between them and management of the company.
