Power Oil takes fitness walk to Enugu, Rivers

POWER Oil, a cooking oil brand took the city of Enugu and Port Harcourt by storm at the weekend with the third edition of its annual health awareness walk tagged ‘Power Oil WalkHearto­n,’ which witnessed massive participat­ion in both cities.

The awareness walk is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and remind Nigerians of the benefits of a daily fitness routine. It is aimed at encouragin­g Nigerians to walk at least 30 mins everyday to keep fit and stay healthy.

The five kilometres walk kicked off in Enugu at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium into Ogui Road, towards Otigba roundabout and back to the stadium, and was led by the Commission­er for Youths and Sports, Charles Ndukwe, while in Port Harcourt, procession started from the Liberation Stadium into Elekahia Road towards roundabout around the Air force junction and back to the stadium.

Ndukwe commended the brand for partnering with the state on the laudable project, which according to him encourages everyone, especially the youths, to imbibe the culture of exercising.

Brand Manager, Power Oil, Miss Amisha Chawla, said: “It is the first time the WalkHearto­n project is taking place in Enugu and I must say the excitement by the indigenes is indescriba­ble. It was such great feelings to record this overwhelmi­ng crowd joined in on a good course as this.”

Guest artistes like Nigga Raw and MC Bonus in Enugu, and Sound Sultan and Funnybone in Port Harcourt, led the walk to demonstrat­e the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle by taking a healthy walk for a healthy heart.

Mrs. Omotayo Abiodun, Public Relations Manager, Power Oil, said the last leg of the walk is scheduled to hold simultaneo­usly in Abuja and Ibadan next week. “Woli Arole and Sanyeri will be joining the walk in Ibadan, while Sound Sultan and MC Bonus will be present in Abuja.”
