Organisers thrilled by freestyle football final venue

-

THE venue of the maiden National Freestyle Football Championship, which holds this weekend presents a perfect avenue for participants to exhibit their skills, organisers of the competition, Feet ‘n’ Tricks International Limited, have said.

The championship will hold at the Ikeja City Mall parking lot and according to the CEO of Feet n Tricks, O’dyke Nzewi, fans and participants would have fun at the event, which is being sponsored by GAC Motors, a product of Guangzhou Automobile Group Motor Company Limited and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

“We are very delighted that the venue is a centre point of the city. Because it is not hidden, we expect a huge turnout of fans and we also believe so many people go the Ikeja City mall and they will get to see what we are doing,” Nzewi said. Thousands of entries were received via the designated registration platform where participants uploaded a 30 seconds video of themselves in freestyling.

These video entries were subjected to a screening process by professional judges after which 16 male and eight female freestyle footballers have emerged for the July 23 finals.

Already, the President and Founder of the World Federation of Freestyle Football, Daniel Wood, has confirmed that he would be in Lagos for the event. A former Nigerian international, Nwankwo Kanu, is one of the three judges for the freestyle football final. Other are former European Champion, Daniel Mikolaj, and another African, Joel Asare, who is a two-time Ghanaian champion.
