Institutions collaborate for academic development
TO boost research and training of highly competent Nigerians, the Wesley University Ondo, Ondo-state has established collaboration with two frontline American higher educational institutions on academic and professional programmes.
The two American universities are Southern University and the Information and Communications Technology University Foundation of Louisiana, United States of America.
The indications for the collaboration were stated in a letter signed by President, Board of Trustees, ICT University Foundation Prof. Victor Mbarika, which was addressed to the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Olu Aderounmu.
The letter revealed that the proposal for collaboration between the institutions has been approved and will soon be implemented.
Among other things, the letter states: “We believe that partnerships with institutions like yours could be mutually beneficial in every tangible way. Our research center, the Southern University International Center for Information Technology and Development coordinates much of the research exchange programmes with institutions worldwide”.
The terms for the collaboration include; donations of an Electronic Learning Center to Wesley University, the establishment of Accredited Diploma Programme in Health Information Technology, and regular staff attendance of Annual training workshops organized by the universities in Louisiana, United States of America.
The initiative for the collaboration was undertaken by Wesley University early this year, when the Vice-chancellor made a formal contact with the American institutions.
With the collaborations and other agreements already signed by Wesley with some international universities, the Ondo city based Methodist university is hopeful of bee will rank among the best internationally assisted private universities in Nigeria and will encourage more students to enroll for their programmes at Wesley University.
