AS Nigerians gear up for the yuletide celebrations, road users have been advised to avoid boarding overloaded vehicles and night travelling due to its inherent dangers

Akwa Ibom sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Sunday Oghenekaro, made this known while kicking off the 2017 ember months/end-ofyear road safety sensitization campaign with the theme ‘The right to life on the highway not negotiable’.

He said anybody caught boarding an overloaded vehicle will be made to alight from it and the driver liable to pay the prescribed fine for overloading under the regulation 188(1) of the NRTR 2012 as amended.

He further enjoined all road users to plan every trip before commencement to avoid the temptation of haste, lack of consideration for other road users, vehicle abuse and excessive speed, which he explained have been fingered as the most critical causes of road crashes.
