Group urges Anambra women to back Peoples Democratic Party

-

THE coordinator, OHORIsation Movement, Stanley Nwosu, has called on women in Anambra State to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 18 governorship election.

Addressing the women wing of the PDP yesterday in Awka, Nwosu noted that women were so powerful that their votes could determine the winner.

He said: “Women are known for their unwaver- ing commitment and dedication in supporting candidates in an election. Their voting power is second to none. Most political parties neglect women when it comes to nomination of candidates for elections. They don’t consider women to be good enough to emerge party flag bearers.”

Nwosu said the PDP was the party with the interest of the people at heart and had given women a sense of belonging by nominat- ing one of them, Lady Chidi Alexandra Onyemelukwe, as running mate to the party’s candidate, Mr. Oseloka Obaze.

“By this singular act, the PDP has proved to be a party that has deep respect and recognition for womenfolk unlike other political parties. Anambra women stand to benefit more if PDP emerged victorious in the Anambra governorship election more than they would benefit if any other party wins,” he said.

He added: “Anambra women voters should rise up, mobilise themselves and say no to political marginalisation of women with a loud voice on November 18 by casting their votes for the Obaze/onyemelukwe ticket.”

He described Lady Onyemelukwe, daughter of elder statesman and former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, as a perfect combination of brain and beauty.
