Buhari Restates Commitment To Providing Quality Healthcare

PRESIDENTMUHAMMADU Buhari has restated his administration’s commitment to the provision of quality health in the country.

This is just as the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has stressed the need for Nigeria to have a regulated palliative care for terminally ill patients.

Speaking at the World Medical Association, Africa Regional Meeting in Abuja, Buhari noted that the provision of affordable and quality health care was a key priority of the present administration.

Represented by the Minister for Health, Prof Isaac Adewole, the President said his administration would strive to ensure quality and affordable health care service for the poor and ensure that mothers are deliver of their babies safely. He said: "In Nigeria, provision of affordable health care is a key priority of our administration. The aim is to ensure that all Nigerians, especially the poorest, have access to basic quality health care, that mothers deliver their babies safely, that Nigeria children live past the age of five and that

Nigerians do not suffer financial hardship as a result of seeking healthcare." He commended the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) for its contribution to national development, particularly in areas of medical education, human resource planning for health, advocacy, occupational health and safety, public health policy and leadership and career development.
