Score Early Goals To Tame Morocco, Mutiu Adepoju Tells CHAN Eagles

- By Alex Monye

FORMER Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju, has advised the CHAN Super Eagles to make good use of any chance that comes their way to score early goals in tomorrow’s African Nation’s Championship final against the Atlas Lions of Morocco.

Adepoju told Theguardian yesterday that scoring early goal would go a long way in disorganising the Moroccan players who would be banking on home advantage to secure victory in the encounter.

The NFF Technical Committee member advised the players not to approach the final game with anxiety, saying that their commitment and determination to win every game in the tournament should be reenacted tomorrow.

He enjoined the CHAN Eagles not to make unnecessary inclusions that would earn them cards saying that the North Africa side might deploy antics that would pave the way for the referee to take drastic decisions, which might not go down well for the Eagles.

Adepoju said that the home-based Eagles victory in the championship would go a long way in raising the standard of Nigerian league. He also added that the coaches should work on the striking force of the team ahead of the final game.

“CHAN Eagles should strive hard to take their chances and score early goals against Morocco. Any team that scores first in a game has some level of advantage. As you can see in the semi-final tie against Sudan, the Eagles where able to steal the show by scoring early goal. The North African teams are very fast and tactical with the ball. For Eagles to disorganise their game plans, they have to score early. Eagles would have more advantage if Morocco is the one struggling to equalise.”
