Leader of the most dreaded kidnap gang in the country, Henry Chibueze, popularly called Vampire, was killed during a gun battle between his gang and operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team in Omu Awa Forest, Ikwerre Local Council of Rivers State.

14-year-old Ese Rita, Delta State-born girl, resident in Bayelsa, who was abducted by Yunusa Dahiru, alias Yellow, but rescued by the police in Kano, was discovered to be five months pregnant. • Another 14-year-old Benue girl, Patience Paul, was abducted in Sokoto. Relatives alleged that the primary six pupil was housed at the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto.
