Ambode A Detribalised Nigerian, Says Igbo Group
THE Igbo people in Lagos have described Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as a detribalised Nigerian committed to the development of the state.
The spokesman of the group, Dr. Innocent N. Nwankwo, revealed this when he led members of Igbo community for the endorsement of Ambode’s second term and inauguration of the Women Forum of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard in the Badagry division.
He said his people supported the move to endorse the governor because of his performance, noting that the governor has proved himself to be a detribalised Nigerian and a highly focused leader who is committed to the growth of the society.
Speaking at the event, the Coordinator General of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, Mr. Seyi Bamigbade, said the all-inclusive governance introduced by the present administration had scaled up rapid infrastructural development in the state.
THE Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) will embark on a nationwide tour, to access the state of infrastructural development across the country.
The NUJ said the plan, which is part of a development-based consortium programme, ‘Nigeria Infrastructural Development Appraisal 2018’, would be undertaken in partnership with Project Network Nigeria (PNN).
In a statement signed by the Executive Director of PNN, Tony Nwaru, the pro- gramme, which is also known as ‘Operation Showcase Your Scorecard’, is geared towards the development of democracy.
The programme, according to the statement, is designed to serve as a bridge between performing state governments and international development partners, as well as foreign missions operating in Nigeria.
The tour is aimed at identifying investment potentials and laudable projects in each state in the first stage, while fostering more coop- eration, investments and partnerships between such states and various foreign missions already indicating strong interest and participation in the programme. According to the statement, a team comprising the national president of NUJ, other officials of the body, key officials of foreign missions, selected correspondents, editors of print, electronic and social media shall undertake tours of completed and ongoing projects across various states of the federation.
