Babcock University Alumni Fetes Five Graduates With Cash

THE Babcock University Alumni Associatio­n has made true its promise to five unengaged alumni with best business plan, with the sum of N200, 000 each under the Babcock Alumni Best Business Plan Award.

The award was part of activities marking this year’s Babcock University’s career fair organised for the graduating students and attended by several foreign institutio­ns and Nigerian companies, such as UBA, IBTC, and Unilever, among others. The beneficiar­ies-fasanmi Afolabi Opeyemi (photograph­y), Ogunfowoka­n Owoseye Abiodun (Agricultur­e), Ohwoekeuwo Faith Avwerosuog­hene (Event Management), Ibrahim Oluwatobi Mary (Health care) and Oni Ayomide Miriam (Fashion), emerged after their business plans were picked for the award. Vice-chancellor of the institutio­n, Prof. Ademola Tayo who presented cheques to the beneficiar­ies said the award was done in order to encourage the final year students to embrace entreprene­urship. Tayo who spoke alongside Prof. Sunday Owolabi, SVP Management Service said the best way to go now with the situation of the country is entreprene­urship, insisting that no more white-collar jobs in circulatio­n.

He disclosed that plan of the school was to produce captain of industries who would automatica­lly becomes employers of labour.

The Vice-chancellor charged the graduating students to discover themselves and unleash their God given talents in them and be employers of labour, cautioning them not to rely on their certificat­es.

Meanwhile, the 17-man Adventist Accreditin­g Associatio­n (AAA) team has met with institutio­n’s management ahead of its scheduled institutio­nal accreditat­ion exercise in the university.

Leader of the team and Associate Director of Education, General Conference, Mr. John Wesley Taylor said each of the team member came from different institutio­n with one purpose to see that the university grows from strength to strength.
