Total presents starter packs to skills acquisition beneficiaries

-

STARTER packs have been presented to the 20 graduating beneficiaries of the 2016/2017 Total Nigeria’s Skills Acquisition Programme (SAP) in Makera and Kakuri areas of Kaduna State.

The starter packs, which are work tools required to establish them in smallscale businesses, were presented upon the successful completion of their one year vocational training. The 20 graduands specializing in tailoring (seven), computer studies (six), hairdressing (two) and welding (five) received the items at Total Nigeria Plc Lubricant Blending Plant, Kaduna.

The SAP is a sustainable youth development scheme designed to address one of the company’s focal Corporate Social Responsibility pillars, which is local and economic development. Under this programme, less privileged youths of its host communities are trained and empowered in vocations of their choice.

Since its inception in 2008, SAP has graduated 90 youths in Kaduna alone. Upon completion of their training, they are presented with these starter packs and a shop with two years rent already paid, all aimed at supporting the sustainability of the businesses towards becoming stable startups.

Managing Director, Total Nigeria Plc, Jean Philippe Torres, in his address read by General Manager, (Human Resources and Corporate Services/company Secretary), Bunmi PopoolaMordi, implored the beneficiaries to believe in their capabilities and strengths to become achievers in their vocations whilst working hard to contribute positively to the growth and development of their communities.
