Christian Group Charges Buhari To Fetch Sharibu

- From Emmanuel Ande,yola

THE Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has charged the Federal Government negotiators that rescued 104 out of the 110 abducted Dapchi schoolgirls to ensure that Leah Sharibu is also released from Boko Haram’s den within seven days.

In a statement by its National President, Mr. Daniel Kadzai, yesterday, in Yola, YOWICAN said the action of Buhari administration to exclude Leah in the negotiations was informed by her Christian faith.

The group said: “This has confirmed the fears of Christians that the present government has an agenda to Islamise Nigeria. The Chibok girls were probably held for so long because of similar reasons.”

While noting that the quick return of the Dapchi Muslim girls was dictated by their faith, YOWICAN declared: “it is clear to us, Christian communities in Nigeria, that the abduction of school girls is targeted primarily at Christians.

“The Dapchi schoolgirls were abducted out of error, thinking they are Christians. So, they released all the Muslim girls, holding back Leah, the only Christian girl. This means that if all were Christians, they would not have been released. Who can now convince us that the insurgency agenda is not a religious war?”

YOWICAN said the “sad point of the release of the Dapchi girls was the announced death of five of the girls.”

“We plead that in the spirit of the Christian faith, the parents should forgive the terrorists, as well as, our own insensitive leadership and the resultant reality of a failed nation further orchestrated by the President,” the group added.
