Ovie Brume Foundation empowers youths

- By Paula Eseghene

OVIE Brume Foundation (OBF), which is creating an environment where young people are able to reach their goals and give back to their communities, has put together a vocational training to empower out-of-school youths.

The training which took between four to nine months has ended with beneficiaries from different vocations like catering, furniture among others. The OBF also gave them their working tools. The project which was sponsored by Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation, featured an exhibition which was attended by BOI represented by its managing director.

Aspire’s head, programmes, Ndifreke Okwuegbuna, remarked: “We have to support this project and we are happy about this exhibition. These are people that did not have any knowledge about what they have made today, no skills at all but today after six months to a year look at what they came with. This gives us hope about their future, that they can make money from what they have learnt. They are not only trained on skills but also business management, on how to start and manage your business.” Adeola Awogbemi, Executive Director at OBF, said: “OBF is a youth- focus organization. We want to empower young people. We are in education, art and culture and health. We have executed a lot of projects. We have been working from the local government, down to state and to the nation at a large. OBF is also having an office in Warri, Delta State, working with public schools as the government cannot do it alone.
