ADC Assures Nigerians Of Defeating APC In 2019
Yorubaronu Warns Against Obasanjo's Antics
NATIONAL Chairman, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralph Nwosu has assured Nigerians that the party would oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.
Speaking in an exclusive with Theguardia, barely 24 hours after the Coalition of Nigeria Movement fused into ADC, Nwosu said the party has commenced grassroots campaign to get every Nigerians who are disgruntled and also feeling the pinch of the bad policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari's led administration of APC to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) and ensure full participation in he next election. Even in Lagos State, some leaders of opposition political parties have started discussion on how to forge a common front ahead of the 2019 governorship election with the aim to put a stop to what they described as the colonisation of the state political and economic resources by the political machinery of the National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu since 1999. The opposition leaders disclosed to The Guardian yesterday that it would only take them to mobilise one million citizens of the state to vote against the ruling party in 2019.
According to Nwosu, “With the new development, we are trying to build a new political coalition in Africa starting from the grassroots that will stop bad governance, not only in Nigeria but across the continent.” Nwosu said the state of Nigeria under the ruling party demands emergency and we are ready to give all it takes to mobilise aggrieved Nigerians to come out enmass to chase away bad government in 2019. The ADC national chairman also encouraged Nigerians, including the elite particularly not to sit and fold their arms without participating in the new process, which aims to end APC'S rule next year, saying what the coalition is doing is divine and no draconian power could stop it. According to him, “Not less than 30 organisations including civil societies and over 20 political parties have indicated interest to be part of the movement to rescue the country. No power or forces of anti people can stop us.”
Meanwhile, for reasons best known, representatives of the opposition leaders in Lagos said it was not yet time to disclose their identity but they said there is a myth about the ruling party in Lagos which the citizens should understand that with only 900, 000 to one million votes out of the estimated 18 to 20 million population “APC can be successfully and easily defeated in Lagos State.”
The opposition leladers are hoping to take advantage of the obvious division in the Lagos APC and they may resolve to work underground with some members that were disgruntled with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s alleged one man show and policies, which was said to have plunged the citizens into unnecessary hardship and poverty since May 2015.
The Lagos opposition leaders are also hoping to benefit from the perceived subtle misunderstanding between Tinubu and his political protégés among other things. According to them, “APC is not as difficult to win like people do imagine particularly now that the incumbent administration appears to have failed the people.”
