Saraki Seeks Review Of Nigeria’s Primary Healthcare System
• Endorses Emmanuel For Second Term
SENATE president, Bukola Saraki, has stated that for Nigeria to provide Universal Healthcare for all its citizens, its current disjointed healthcare set-up must be reviewed.
Saraki, according to a statement by his Special Assistant on Print Media, Chuks Okocha, stated this when Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib, briefed the leadership of the Senate on the Community Health Influencers, Promoters and Service providers (CHIPS), a programme of the agency. Saraki also challenged the Executive Director and all agencies under the Federal Ministry of Health to come up with a comprehensive programme that integrates all existing healthcare programmes in the country under one umbrella for better coordination and funding.
Meanwhile, Saraki, Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria, and Keke Owners and Riders Association have all endorsed Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, for a second term in office.
Declaring his support for Emmanuel through a senator from Zamfara State, Kabir Marafa, during an empowerment programme by the lawmaker representing Uyo Senatorial District, Bassey Albert, at Uyo Township Stadium, Saraki said that he was satisfied with the governor’s performance and therefore favoured a motion for his re-election. Speaking further, he commended Albert for his passion to give his people effective representation, pointing that he was a good ambassador of the state in the National Assembly.
