Royal Rubies Wins Tender Palms School’s Inter-house Competition
WITH 19 medals, Royal Rubies House has won the Tender Palms School, Lagos’ second biannual inter-house competition, which took place on the school’s sports complex, Sanya Ogunbanjo, Arowojebe Estate, Mende Maryland, Lagos.
The competition, watched by old students of the school, parents and dignitaries from across the country, as well as students from other private schools, government colleges, featured track and field events, bursting bal- loons and shoe race.
Three houses, including Sparkle Sapphire (Blue House), Gifted Golds (Yellow House) and Royal Rubies (Red House) were involved in the various categories of the competition.
Activities carried out include lighting of torch, march past, calisthenics display, students race, staff race and parents race. Other events were sack race, kangaroo race, filling basket, holler hoop, three legged race and building temple.
Royal Rubies House emerged the winner, Gifted Gold and Sapphire houses came second and third respectively.
In her speech, the Proprietress of the school, Mrs. Magdalene Omole emphasised the essence of inter-house sports, saying it is a means of assessing the psychomotor domain of education. She highlighted that sport is part of the developmental process of a child since it went beyond entertainment but a viable economic tool.
