THE vice chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), Prof Igbekele Ajibefun has enjoined the newly admitted students of the institution to resist all forms of misconduct and embrace the virtues of excellence, enterprise and innovation to excel in their academic pursuit.

Speaking at the orientation programme organised for its 2017/2018 new intakes, Prof. Ajibefun said keeping student-friendly policies on the front burner has been a culture of the university and would be sustained. He said, “AAUA has reputation as a student-friendly institution. It has expanded its welfare package by establishing the Student Support Centre to assist indigent, physically-challenged and gifted students in their academic pursuits. This and other programmes and policies are meant to make the stay of students on campus more comfortable, and for us, they are top priorities.

The VC enjoined the new students to enjoy their relative freedom as undergraduates but with a high sense of responsibility, failing which may cause them their studentship.

I would like to warn you that as a destination of academic excellence, this institution has zero tolerance for all forms of crimes and indiscipline, including cultism, examination misconduct and other vices.”

The Deputy Vice Chancellor and chairman of orientation programme, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, who presented the lead paper, said AAUA brand is especially unique in its craft of mission and vision, and in pursuit of best practices.

Ige said, “The university has a lofty vision to be a foremost institution that moves manpower development in the direction of self-apprenticeship; a firstclass institution in research, knowledge, character and service to humanity. It has a mission to provide knowledge and skills for self-reliance in a conducive environment where teaching, learning and research can take place. The outcome of the university’s commitment to its vision and mission has produced enviable results as instanced in the quality of its academic programmes over the years.”

Prof. Ige also charged the new students to take up the challenge of joining the league of AAUA’S alumni and become its ambassadors by exhibiting the university’s tradition of excellence in all ramifications.
