- By Maria Diamond

AS part of efforts to guide our youths towards the right path, an international branded hotel in Abeokuta, Ogun state in conjunction with Kola Obadimu’s Junior Playhouse recently launched a child development platform to invest in children education, and bring them to the limelight through inter-school debates.

The platform, according to the General Manager, Park Inn by Radisson, Kayode Aina is to create an environment that emphasises the importance of education in order to develop the future leaders of Nigeria.

He said, “When talking about children education and well being, there is no amount of investment that is too much because they are the future of the country. To us, our focus is centered around development, not about making money, which is why we invest in children education”. As tomorrow’s leaders, Aina said it is important for students to study hard by cultivating healthy reading habits, stressing that education converts information to knowledge.

Bayo Treasure-olawunmi, a voracious reader and holder of the Guinness World Record’s longest marathon reading for 122 hours also reeled out the importance of reading to the Nigerian child pointing out that leaders of tomorrow are the readers of today.

The event themed, “Education and the Nigerian child” and held at the hotel’s conference hall was attended by parents, teachers and students from both public and private schools as well as stakeholders in the sector.
