2019: Nigerians Yet To Find An Alternative To PDP, Says Fayose
EKITI State Governor Ayo Fayose, yesterday, declared that Nigerians were yet to find an alternative to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of next year’s general elections.
Fayose also criticised the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Kayode Fayemi, alleging that he never won the 2010 governorship election, but was handed to him by the then Justice Ayo Salami on a platter of gold through legal technicalities.
“Fayemi never won any election in Ekiti. It was Salami who gave him the mandate,” he insisted.
This was just as the National Chairman of PDP, Uche Secondus, Governors Ikpeazu Okezie (Abia), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Ibrahim Dankwambo (Gombe) and traditional rulers in the state lauded Fayose for his performance in infrastructural development in the state.
The governor also denied borrowing money during his three and half years reign in office and debunked allegation by the opposition APC that he borrowed a certain N56 billion. Fayose, who spoke alongside other PDP governors during the inauguration of the new Governor’s Office in Ado Ekiti, said: “Nigerians have not found an alternative to PDP and l am sure that they are now regretting.
“I have not committed this state to any bank by one naira with these many projects that I have done and that I am doing.
“I tell you expressly that 70 per cent percent of the infrastructures in Ekiti have been built by me.”
The governor said deployment of soldiers and Police would not save Fayemi from being defeated in the July 14 governorship poll. He insisted that the alleged poor performances of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had substantiated the fact that there was no alternative to PDP in the running of government at the centre.
Wike, who lambasted the Apc-led federal government for allegedly performing poorly, said: “I don’t associate with those who don’t know what development is all about. Anyone I associate with shows that there is something positive about him.
“Fayose has shown that politics is all about development. even though they try to distract him and victimise him and refuse to give him his due, he will triumph.” Taking a swipe at Fayemi, he said: “I learnt somebody said he would win Ekiti because of the performance of the President. He should have said that he would win because of what he has been able to do for Ekiti.
“Anywhere you see PDP, all you see is development and programmes to better the lot of our people. Fayose has been able to do this because he believes in the agenda of PDP, which is development for the nation.
