Osuntokun, Others Re-echo Calls For Restructuring

THE Director of Media and Public Communications, Coalition for Nigeria Movement, Prof. Akinjide Osuntokun has re-echoed calls for urgent restructuring of the country for true democracy to manifest.

His position was substantiated by Vice Admiral Ganiyu Adekeye, and Major General Ike Nwachukwu (rtd) at the launch of a book titled: Hubris, A Brief Political History Of The Nigerian Army, written by Major General Akintunde Akinkunmi, at Victoria Island, Lagos.

To them, restructuring is very essential at this time, to ensure true democracy and to put an end to killings and destruction of property across the country.

Osuntokun, who was the book reviewer, said once the country’s constitution is reviewed, every other thing would improve.

He noted that failure of past leaders is responsible for current hardship, corruption, and economic degradation, among other problems facing the country, adding that restructuring is essential in order to move the country forward.

He said: “Democracy is the best way to move the country forward like other developed countries in the world, but we need a patriotic leader who has interest of the masses at heart.”

The author, Akinkunmi, said the book evolved due to his interest in the history of the Nigerian Army, and his desire to educate the younger generations about the Army.
