Wenger considers return to Japan for coaching job

-

ARSENEWENGER is considering a return to Japan to resume his managerial career.

The 68-year-old has decided to leave Arsenal after more than two decades. His place is to be taken by former Paris Saint-germain coach Unai Emery.

But Wenger has made it clear that he wants to stay in football. There will be numerous offers for him to take over at clubs in Europe and in the United States.

But Wenger also has the option of working in Japan. Wenger worked in the Far East for one season during 1995-96.

He was at Nagoya Grampus Eight where he won the Emperor’s Cup and the Japanese Super Cup during his stay.

Wenger went to Japan when he left Monaco after he became disillusioned with French football in the aftermath of the match-fixing scandal of the 1990s. Wenger spent a successful period with Nagoya Grampus Eight before joining Arsenal

He loved the culture, learned the language and it took immense persuasion from the then Arsenal vicechairman David Dein to convince him to come back to Europe and take over at Highbury.

CHELSEA has agreed personal terms with Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri, reports Sky Sports.

Sarri has been identified as Chelsea’s first choice candidate if they sack Antonio Conte this summer.

Conte has endured two whirlwind years at Stamford Bridge but did at least manage to sign-up off the season with the FA Cup.

Chelsea will reportedly be forced into forking out €20m (£17.5m) in compensation if they sack Conte, as the Italian has no intentions of walking away.

Sarri has a £7m release clause in his current Napoli deal but the Blues will not match that and will instead wait for it to expire at the end of the month.

The 59-year-old already has an offer on the table from Russian giants Zenit, who are looking for a new manager in the wake of Roberto Mancini’s departure.

Napoli already have former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti lined up but are waiting to sort Sarri’s future before officially appointing the Italian.

Sarri has transformed Napoli in the last two seasons and the Serie A outfit arguably play some of the most eye-catching football on the planet.
