PLATEAU State Governor, Simon Lalong has dismissed allegation of witchhunt against his opponents.

He spoke in a broadcast titled: “Integrity, Accountability and Transparency in Leadership,” to mark Democracy Day and his three years in office

The governor explained that he is not a sadist who enjoys seeing people suffer. He expressed concern about people who ha ve chosen, either out of mischief or ignorance, to give an ethnic or political colouration to his government’s anti-corruption fight.

According to the governor , under a democratic dispensation, people have the right to hold their opinion, adding that the fight against corruption should be seen as an issue that borders on governance.

He stressed that it also has nothing to do with any ethnic, religious or political leanings.

He said: “Let it be known that the fight against corruption is solely the mandate of the anti-graft agencies, which are statutorily empowered by the relevant Acts of the National Assembly to prosecute corrupt practices.

“I still stand by what I always say and said again on Sunday, the May 20, 2018 at the solemn occasion of the 94th General Church Council of the Church of Christ in Nation (COCIN) regarding my clear position on issues of integrity and transparency in leadership.”

Meanwhile, the governor has threatened to expose mischievous people who acquired arms illegally in the state.

He said the warning became necessary because the government learnt that the people had acquired the arms to destabilise the upcoming elections.
