Lagos govt tasks workforce on creative solutions for better productivity

- By Bankole Orimisan

THE Lagos State government has charged civil servants to deploy creative solutions to tackle complex problems for better service delivery in the state.

Governor Akinwumi Ambode stated this at a two day training organised for the civil servants tagged: Re-charting the path to Quality: the sustainable Road to the change Mantra.

He said if the civil servants must expand and deepen their digital communication skills to solidify the delivery of quality offerings to the citizens, they should use social media and digital communication platforms, such as email and video, which he described as cornerstones of modern communication.

He said they should, therefore, exhibit excellent digital communication skills, especially communication through social media, as this would ensure that they effectively bridge the gap between the people and government.

Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr. Akintola Benson Oke, who represented the governor at the workshop, said the forum was designed to knit together all the factors and knowledge nuggets that would ensure that the administration’s change mantra brought about the desired change for the civil service.

Oke tasked the civil servants to deliver quality that should take existing talents within the organisation, nurture and place officers in positions where they could be most successful.

He added that the processes and style should be careful not to stifle growth by becoming overbearing or forcing officers into positions for which they were not qualified.
