16 northern youth groups rose from a joint meeting in Kaduna State to give Igbo residing in their states up to October 1, 2017 to vacate the region.

• A Federal High Court ordered permanent forfeiture of $43,449,947; £27,800 and N23,218,000 (N13.3 billion) discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an Ikoyi apartment to the coffers of the government.

Former Super Eagles captain and coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, fondly called the Big Boss died at his Benin home aged 54.

• 2014 - Nigeria

Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili, pharmacist and government administra­tor died in an Indian hospital after a battle with cancer. She’s remembered for her exploits in battling fake drugs as Director General of National Agency for Food & Drug Administra­tion and Control, NAFDAC before her appointmen­t as Minister of Informatio­n and Communicat­ions from 2008 to 2010. She broke the ice on secrecy surroundin­g illness of Pres. Umaru Yar’adua in 2010 when she raised a memo at the Federal Executive Council on having a team access the graveness of Yaradua’s illness at a Saudi Arabia hospital. She won Time Magazine 2006 "One of the 18 heroes of our time" Award.

• 2011 - USA

Pres. Obama honored German Chancellor Angela Merkel, by presenting her with the Medal of Freedom. She is Germany’s first woman leader.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the iphone 4.

• 2000 - UN

United Nations defined the Blue Line as the border between Israel and Lebanon.

• 1999 - USA

FBI put alleged terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden and anti-abortion activist and accused doctor killer James Charles Kopp on the bureau’s list of the Ten Most Wanted fugitives. Kopp was arrested in 2001 and Osama killed in 2011.

• 1994 - S/africa

The Organizati­on of African Unity formally admitted South Africa as its fifty-third member.
