NIM boss tasks members on good healthcare to enhance productivi­ty

THE President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Prof. Olukunle Iyanda, has charged members to pay greater attention to their safety and health for increased productivi­ty.

He argued that managers do not just manage others and resources, but themselves, relationsh­ips and their health, as vital activities are needed to undertake periodical­ly in order to maintain good health status.

Speaking during the Institute’s 2018 health talk programme, tagged ‘New Models and Realities in Personal Health Management’, Iyanda, using the popular saying that “health is wealth “, pointed out that wealth could only be built by and on good health.

He noted that it was important to take good care of our health in order to build good wealth.

He said: “We need to keep abreast of developmen­ts and innovation­s on profession­al health management, as much as we do of developmen­t. We need to learn about what developmen­ts have occurred in the care of our health, both by profession­al health care givers as well as by ourselves.”

The Guest Speaker, a Consultant Pathologis­t and Integrativ­e Physician, Dr. Banjo Kale, who took the audience on models of maintainin­g a good health, gave an in-depth into integrativ­e medical services, which comprises of the western and oriental medicine.

He said that while drugs like the western medicines are useful for the body, personal health, that is, the oriental medicine that depends on nature, should be taken on high esteem to maintain quality healthy living and overcome various diseases.
