Kinsmen honour Dafinone as remains arrive at country home

RESIDENTS of Sapele and Okpe communities in Delta State yesterday received the remains of their son and patriarch of the Dafinone family, Chief David Omueya Dafinone, the Owhere 1 of Okpe Kingdom. Members of the communities abandoned their various businesses and official engagement to give a heroic welcome to the patriarch of the Dafinone family after his sojourn on earth.

All roads leading to the country-home in Sapele of the former senator, experienced heavy traffic gridlock as family friends and associates as well as women, groups, school children, youths and community leaders trooped out dancing and singing to catch a glimpse of the royal ceremonies and fanfare ahead of the week-long funeral activities to bid him farewell this weekend.

Motorists and other road users had a hectic time gaining access to Sapele, as all roads leading to the town were closed.

Also, members of the traditional family and traditional chiefs from Sapele/okpe, family friends and associates of the deceased came out to celebrate the life and times of the late senator.

Several cultural dance troupes from the Urhobo nation danced in their beautiful performances at Ugbenu/koko Junction.

Acting Most Senior Man of Sapele/okpe Community, Pa Joseph Itoto Ogodo, who spoke with said the community was delighted to receive the corpse of their son and fallen hero.

Also, a sibling of the deceased, Chief Godfrey Dafinone, described the demise of their patriarch as a big loss to Urhobo nation, the family, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
