APC, PDP trade words over plot to rig elections in Edo

- From Michael Egbejule, Benin City

WITH the postponement of the polls from February 16 to February 23, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State have engaged in war of words over alleged plans to rig the elections in the state.

The PDP is accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of complicity.

Edo PDP chairman, Dan Orbih, who at the weekend alleged that thousands of unclaimed Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCS) in the state had been given out secretly by the electoral body to members of the APC, said INEC officials denied PDP supporters the collection of their PVCS.

But the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Emmanuel AlexHart, denied the allegation.
