OPPO sets for Nigeria’s mobile market

GLOBAL mobile phone maker, OPPO is set to disrupt the Nigerian market with its new sets of phones. The firm, headquarte­red in China, noted that its class of mobile devices, which when fully launched in Nigeria will give buyers more innovative choices.

Speaking in Lagos, the firm’s Marketing Director, Lily Wang, said though the firm is a little bit late in coming to the country, she is optimistic that the quality of its products will stand it out in the local market having remained on the number four slot in global smartphone market.

Wang said Nigeria is a big market because of the population, which makes her the most important country, the biggest in West Africa. “Also, Nigeria has a rich culture, rich entertainm­ent, music, Nollywood. Nigeria is the centre of attraction for any brand willing to play on the global stage. That made OPPO to come to Nigeria.”

According to her, OPPO is the fourth mobile phone globally and number two in China and in Southeast Asia like Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar. It is also in European countries.

“In Africa, we sell in Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and now Nigeria, .OPPO just entered Egypt in 2016. Sales in Egypt are very good. It’s the fourth top brand already. We are in Nigeria for long term operation and to satisfy our customers. We have opened service centre in Lagos and we hope to extend to other parts of the country,” Wang said.

Meanwhile, ahead of the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, Spain, the firm said it has been continuous­ly involved in exploring and innovating in the field of mobile computing optics. As the pioneer of hybrid optical zoom technology.
