Jerry Yang (38), co-founder of Yahoo, donated $75 million to Stanford University. Yang and David Filo founded Yahoo in 1995.
• 2006 - Liberia
Liberia's president inaugurated a truth commission to investigate crimes and human rights abuses committed in the country over the last quarter century.

National Assembly elections held to signal Nigeria’s return to democracy. 469 seats in a bicameral legislature were vied for by three parties. 360 members were for the House of Representatives and 109 were for Senators.
