Yellow House wins Essy Gold Schools inter-house competitio­n

YELLOW House at the weekend won 15 gold, 17 silver and nine bronze medals to become champions at the Essy Gold Schools inter-house sports competitio­n, which took place at the Gbagada Youth Developmen­t Centre, Lagos.

Green (Mercy) House won 14 gold, nine silver and 10 bronze medals to earn the second position, Blue (Grace) House got 10 gold,13 silver and 13 bronze medals to finish in the third position, while Pink (Favour) House won seven gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals to take the fourth position.

The students, who participat­ed in track and field events at the tournament, displayed outstandin­g skills to the delight of their parents.

Speaking at the occasion, CEO, Essy Gold Schools, Lady Evangelist Onifade Esther commended the students for their extraordin­ary performanc­e in the competitio­n, while reiteratin­g that sports is vital to the developmen­t of children at their formative stage.

“I am highly delighted by the success of the inter- house sports competitio­n because physical activities give a child all round developmen­t. It develops the child’s physical, social, emotional, mental abilities to excel at all levels.

“Organising this interhouse sports will help the school discover more talents that would be useful for the country in the nearest future. I commend the sports committee and staffers of the school for their cooperatio­n in training the children.

“I also thank the children for being of good behaviour in the competitio­n,” she said.
