Imo governor-elect Ihedioha tasks financial institutions on state finances

Opposition parties protest against guber poll results

IMO State governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha, has advised financial institutions handling the state government’s accounts to be mindful of any transactions until his administration is inaugurated on May 29.

He said this yesterday, while briefing journalists in Owerri, stressing that anyone who does any reckless transactions with the state finances would be doing so at his own risk.

He stated that he was aware of the precarious situation of the state, insisting that he would ensure that due process was enforced in government business under his administration.

Ihedioha pointed out that he would use his 12 years experience at the House of Representatives and Deputy Speaker, as well as working relationship with the legislature and judiciary to entrench due process in governing Imo State.

Assuring Imo people that he would run an all-inclusive administration, he promised to work towards reclaiming the people’s lost values and provide jobs for the unemployed.

Commending the elec- torate who enthroned him as governor-elect, he said: “We shall run a participatory government. There will be light at the end of the tunnel.”

While also promising to deal with the issue of land grabbing, Ihedioha said he would soon set up a transition committee that would deliver and ensure liaison with the Rochas Okorocha’s out going government to ensure a smooth hand over.

Besides, no fewer than 2000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Action Alliance (AA) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), yesterday besieged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’S office in Owerri.

They urged the commission to officially declare the results of Okigwe North and South Federal constituencies’ supplementary election of March 9, 2019.

APGA candidate for Okigwe North, Chikwem Onuoha who led the protest alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Obinna Onwubuariri illegally declared himself winner of the poll.

He insisted that from the records available to him, he won the election and therefore, should be declared the winner.
