Bauchi PDP Confident Over Votes Collation Resumption
THE Bauchi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the directive to re-collate votes cast in Tafawa Balewa Local Government during the governorship election.
The party’s state chairman, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam said the step taken by INEC to correct the issues surrounding the electoral process has been set right by the Committee sent from Abuja to investigate the matter.
Akuyam said: “We raised an alarm over the issue of the hiked cancelled votes in Ningi Local Government, which was initially put at 25, 330 but was actually 2,533. They have upheld that. He asked INEC to apologise to Nigerians for organising the most “fraudulent, compromised and scandalous” elections Nigeria ever had in the history of her democracy. He said: “INEC lost it all with the last Presidential and National Assembly elections, which made people to stay away from the Governorship and State Assembly elections. This is a clear indication of silent protest by Nigerian voters in the sanctity of the election and a loss of faith in INEC.”
He called on patriotic Nigerians to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently organise a National Referendum on the Democratic process.
