Appoint Credible People With Integrity As Ministers, Don Urges Buhari

PRESIDENT Muhammad Buhari has been urged to appointmen­t credible people with integrity as ministers into his next cabinet. The President was also advised to woo foreign investors in order to boost the economy. In a release made available to The Guardian, a Senior Lecturer at Sokoto State Polytechni­c, Bello Mohammed said the President must base appointmen­ts to his new cabinet on merit and competence.

He said: “There is need to cut down the cost of run- ning government so that all the loopholes that enable corruption will be blocked. The money saved should be used to empower our people through training and job creation. This will drasticall­y reduce the level of poverty, begging and idleness in the country.”

THE Federal Government yesterday began a crackdown on oil marketers sealing more than 10 pumps at Dan Oil and Forte Oil filling stations in Abuja for fraudulent charges.

Their sales permits were also revoked pending rectificat­ion of all anomalies by the marketers.

The Weight and Measures Department of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment carried out the exercise to ensure that all commercial transactio­ns are accurately measured in line with laid down legally acceptable procedure.

Briefing newsmen yesterday after inspection of selected filling stations in Abuja, the department’ s Acting Director, Engineer Muhammed S. Sidi said 10 pumps at Dan Oil and Forte Oil filling stations in Maitama and Lugbe Airport road were found cheating customers.

He said: “We discovered that for every 40 litres of fuel customers buys, they were overbilled by a litre. This kind of transactio­ns translate to cheating the Nigerian customers of N193, 875 for every truck of 33,000 litres sold.

THE three-month long Gotv “Top Up” Campaign has entered its final phase and the promo will end on April 25.

According to him, the upgrade will give customers access to a wide range of exciting contents on Gotv MAX including football matches of the La Liga, Serie A, Emirates FA Cup, select matches of the Premier League and UFC; the world’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) organisati­on. It also gives access to entertainm­ent content on BET, Fox Entertainm­ent, Starlife, ROK 2, and CBS Reality.
