Transfiguration Is For People Like You

-

T‘transfiguration’ is derived from the Latin roots (“across”) and (“form, shape”), which signifies a change of form or appearance. It is a complete change of form or appearance into a more spiritual or beautiful state. The transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ is the event in which His appearance was radiantly transformed into a glorious body. This glorious event took place on Mount Tabor, the most beautiful mountain in Holy Land.

At the first transfiguration, Jesus did not take all His disciples. Out of 12 apostles, He took only Peter, James and John. For “Many are called, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22:14). Child of God, do you know that you are among the few that will experience transfiguration today? You don’t need to go to the Holy Land before you can experience transfiguration. As you go through this message with faith, you will experience inner transformation and total transfiguration in Jesus name - Amen!

Today’s gospel (Luke 9:28b-36) presents the actual story of transfiguration of Jesus Christ. According to the gospel “Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John; and went up on the mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his countenance was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white.” Child of God, consider yourself among the few chosen ones. As St. Peter rightly declares in 1 Peter 2:9, ‘you are a chosen race. You are among the people set aside to sing God praises!’

• Prayer is a Channel of Transfiguration: Transfiguration took place during prayer. Prayer is a channel through which we experience inner transformation and total transfiguration. A similar event happened in the life of Moses on Mount Sinai “As he (Moses) came down from the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant in his hand, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.” (Exodus 34:29). Child of God, as you continue to pray, you will reflect the glory of God.

• Transfiguration is an encounter between Heavenly Beings and Earthly Bodies: “...behold, two men talked with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus, which he was to accomplish at Jerusalem.” Child of God, from today, the Lord will connect you to the heavenly beings. You will never lack divine companions.

• Transfiguration is a Glorious Experience: “Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep but kept awake, and they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him.” As Peter saw the glory of Christ, the Lord will open your eyes to see His glory!

• Transfiguration scene is the best place to be: Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” From today, you will find comfort and inner peace in God’s presence!

• Transfiguration is Christo-centric: As Jesus said this, a cloud came
