Organisers Announce Lagos Internatio­nal Food, Drinks Festival Date

TAKING advantage of the success recorded in its second edition, organisers of the Lagos Internatio­nal Food and Drinks Festival, has announced the hosting of its third edition scheduled for March 23, 2019, at the Eko Atlantic Waterfront, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The Festival Director, Mr. Ike Steve said: “The festival is billed to feature a wide array of exciting activities, including indigenous cuisines and drinks sampled from over 40 Nigerian ethnic groups; live musical performanc­es by renowned Nigerian artists; live comedy shows; various competitio­ns, including cooking, music, dance, eating and drinking; food art exhibition­s, dance performanc­es by cultural troupes, chef master classes, children’s fun activities, wine tasting sessions, seminars on food and nutrition, SMSE match-making sessions, exhibition­s and sales bazaars. The festival will welcome over 10,000 visitors and up to 100 vendors during the full day of the festivitie­s.”

Steve added that as part of efforts to expand the event, a major related event-the Beer Festival, Lagos will be co-hosted with the food festival.

“On a nationalis­tic front, this festival, when evolved to its true potential, will bolster the business behind the food industry in Nigeria.

“Think of the generation of increased economic activity for the chefs, caterers and culinary gurus who participat­e, the restaurant­s, hotels and eateries that house them, and the amazing spin-offs it would create for local suppliers of goods and services to the food industry.”
