Victims Of Kajuru Violence In IDP Camps Face Threat Of Epidemic
EPIDEMIC may break out soon among victims of recent attacks by armed bandits as over 400 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) affected by the Kajuru crisis in Maraban Kajuru LEA 1 primary school, in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state, are lacking basic amenities, including water and toilet facilities.
Chairman of the IDP camp and the Adara Development Association, Kajuru, Mumini Madogo, disclosed this in an interview with journalists when a group called Caleb Danladi Foundation visited the IDPS and donated foods, clothes and other items to the victims yesterday. Madogo said that the community was overwhelmed with the support received from the foun- dation but lamented that the camp, comprising mostly women and children, was yet to have water, toilets, bathroom, mattresses and mosquito nets, while appealing to everyone to come to their aid.
He said Kajuru local government council has been very supportive in providing foods and other domestic needs, while Southern Kaduna People's Union (SOKAPU) has also been assisting the IDPS in the areas of medical support, by providing treatment for the sick ones in all the six IDP camps in Kajuru.
Earlier the coordinator and founder of the foundation, Caleb Danladi Bako said he set up the foundation to provide humanitarian services to orphans and widows.
