Osun Election: Adeleke Approaches Supreme Court
THE candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approached the Supreme Court, seeking a reversal of the Court of Appeal’s decision that declared candidate of All Progressives
Congress (APC), Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, as winner of the poll. A statement by the Legal Director, Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Niyi Owolade, yesterday, said Adeleke in his appeal, “wants the apex court to uphold his victory at the tribunal, which nullified Oyetola’s election.” Recall that Osun State Election Petition Tribunal had ruled that Senator Adeleke was the rightful winner of the 2018 governorship election. But the Appeal Court reversed the ruling and set aside the tribunal’s decision and reinstated Oyetola as winner of the election.
The statement said six Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SANS), led by Dr. Onyeachi Ikpeazu, as well as, 17 other senior lawyers, filed four appeals against each of the four majority judgements of the Appeal Court.
THE Kogi State Hajj Commission has announced the final hajj fare for 2019 intending pilgrims to Makkah.
A statement by the Commission’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Isah Abdulrahman, said intending pilgrims are to pay N1,531,059,10 only, which is the final Hajj fare.
The statement also directed
intending pilgrims that had earlier deposited money with the commission to pay up their balance before end of May 2019.
In addition, the commission called on intending pilgrims, who are yet to submit their e-passport, National Identification Number (NIN) and medical fitness form to do so immediately without any further delay.
