CBN Trains SMES, Farmers On Bank Processes
CENTRAL Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has trained over 1, 000 small and medium scale business operators and farmers on bank processes and transactions in Cross River State.
The participants were trained on payment system and cashless transaction, rights and duties of bank customers, guides to bank charges, CBN clean note policy and how to identify counterfeit money.
Speaking at the CBN Fair for farmers and small business
operators, themed: Promoting Financial Stability and Economic Development in Nigeria, in Calabar, CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, represented by Director, Corporate Communications, Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, advised participants to always interface with the apex bank on challenges encounter with commercial banks.
He said CBN had budgeted N66.10bn loan for farmers and others in Nigeria, as the Anchor Borrowers Scheme is extended to include cassava, cotton and soya beans farmers.
ACTIONAID Nigeria said it has budgeted $2.5 million for the second phase of its System and Structure Strengthening Approach Against Radicalisation to Violent Extremism (SERVE) project in Kogi and Nasarawa states.
Country Director, Actionaid Nigeria, Ene Obi, who stated this in Lokoja at the launch of SERVE 2, said the project would last for 33 months and would directly benefit 36,000 men and women, including children and indirect beneficiaries.
Obi, represented by the organisation’s Director of Programmes, Tasallah Chibok, said the Phase 2 project was informed by the need to decrease vulnerability of at-risk young men and women to violent extremism.
She said: “The first phase successfully reached 12,985 youths, 4,230 women and 8,705 men directly with capacity building, sensitisation programmes and socio-economic empowerment.
“SERVE would be implemented in six local councils namely Igalela/odolu, Ankpa, Adavi, Okehi, Lokoja and Kogi local councils in Kogi State, while in Nasarawa State, Obi, Lafia, Nasarawa-eggon, Akwanga, Toto and Nasarawa local councils would be reached.”

A statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, said the Commission had made all necessary arrangements for a hitch- free Hajj Operation 2019,and that 70 percent of the visa for pilgrims had been processed.
