What is the significan­ce of the biennial National Convention?

The National Men’s Convention is held biennially to bring men together to share with them our role as fathers both in the church and in our various families. It also gives the church an opportunit­y to galvanise men for nation building.

What is the theme of the convention and why the theme?

The theme for 2019 National Convention is “Gospel Evidence”. It was chosen by the leadership to stress the fact that the gospel produces tangible results in the lives of people wherever it is preached.

What are participan­ts expected to go home with at the end of the convention?

The participan­ts are expected to go home to show forth the evidence of what the gospel can do and what it has done in their own lives. Why chose Benin City as the venue for the convention?

The ancient city of Benin was chosen for its rich cultural and historical values, its peaceful dispositio­n and many tourist attraction­s like the Oba’s palace, the University of Benin, Okada wonderland etc.

Who are you expecting at the convention?

We are expecting among others the General Superinten­dent of Assemblies of God Nigeria, the General Officers, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Edo State, Dr Charles Apoke of Petra Academy Ughelli, Rev Aniemeke from USA and a host of others. How old is the convention?

The convention is as old as the church itself but it took the present dimension about 45 years ago when men of the church began to gather together first annually and later biennially.

What impact will the convention have on the host community?

The host community will benefit both spirituall­y and materially. Prayers for God’s blessings and interventi­on will be offered for the host community and as would be expected, the presence of over 10,000 men would lead to increase in commerce in the community.

Are there any new things that people will see at this convention that are different from the passt ones?

The Venue is owned by AG Edo East District and we shall look at empowermen­t message that will lead people to be self-sufficient.
