Maternal, infant mortality halves in C’river, says agency
AUNITED States Agency for International Development (USAID) partner, Pathfinder International Nigeria, yesterday said it had reduced Cross River State’s maternal and infant deaths by 66 per cent in the last four years. The revelation comes as the U.S. development agency identified states in the South South geopolitical zone with highest births through help of traditional attendants.
At a forum to present its findings on maternal, newborn health and family planning following the implementation of the Saving Mothers, Giving Life Initiative in Cross River, the Country Director of Pathfinder International, Dr. Farouk Jega, informed that early neonatal mortality also reduced by 37 per cent.
