Five Wedding Guests Die In Ekiti

Afive wedding guests, yesterday, lost their lives in a motor accident on the Ikere-ado Road in Ekiti State. Several others also sustained injuries in the a c c iden t . The accident involving an 18-seater bus with registrati­on number Ekiti LG 05 MUE was said to belong to Ekiti State Market women.

Eyewitness­es confirmed that the victims were returning from a wedding reception when the tragedy occurred. An eyewitness said: “The vehicle was speeding and summersaul­ted several times immediatel­y the driver lost control. I counted at least 10 bodies on the road before the arrival of officials of Federal Road Safety Corps.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, Caleb Ikechukwu, who confirmed the accident, said it was a lone fatal accident.

He also said the injured persons had been moved to hospital for treatment while the dead to the morgue.

Aguru and Vice Chairman of Troyka, Mr. Jimi Awosika, has advised advertisin­g agencies in the country to adopt new approach, if they want to thrive, than merely survive, in the face of challenge posed by the post-digital to convention­al advertisin­g.

Awosika made the call in Lagos while delivering a keynote at the opening of the 46th Annual General Meeting (Agm)/congress of the Advertisin­g Agencies Associatio­n of Nigeria (AAAN). Delivering the address entitled

Awosika noted that the postdigita­l age has spawned a raft of new economic activities at a speed advertisin­g agencies are unable to cope with.

He advised agencies to hire staff with skills required in the post-digital age, develop new structures and processes, and increase capacity to predict consumer behaviour as a way of making brands more relevant and positively impacting clients’ margins.
