El-rufai, NGOS Wage War Against Drug Abuse

THekaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-rufai has promised that his administra­tion will not relent in its efforts to eradicate the excessive use of drugs, especially amongst the youth in the state.

He said the scourge is on the increase and becoming a big problem to the society.

The governor said this during a one-day sensitisat­ion program tagged: ‘Narcotics; a journey to perdition,’ organised by frendz United in Kaduna, yesterday, said his government is ready to partner NonGovernm­ental Organisati­ons (NGOS) in addressing the issue.

In her speech, the Senior Programme Officer, National Orientatio­n Agency, (NOA), Rashida Othman Bakono said there is need to collaborat­e with other stakeholde­rs, especially in the area of sensitisin­g the public to stay away from substance abuse.

President of the associatio­n, Rosemary Esekhagbe disclosed that the programme is a strategic engagement to synergize with other stakeholde­rs and build a society that is free of drugs abuse.
