Borno: Police Arrest Four Terrorists, 70 Others

- From Njadvara Musa, Maiduguri

THE Borno State Police Command has arrested four suspected Boko Haram terrorists and 70 others for allegedly committing various crimes in the state.

The criminal offences of cattle rustling and armed robbery were committed between July and September this year, in Maiduguri metropolis, Biu and Bayo local councils.

Parading the suspects on Friday, in Maiduguri, the Police Commissioner, Mohammed Aliyu said Abubakar Mustapha of Bulabulin Ngarnam, was arrested behind the Maximum Security Correctional Home, Maiduguri for alleged spying. “On September 10, the Command issued a press statement on activities of hoodlums, who trailed bank customers’ cars. When such cars are parked, the hoodlums then break into them and remove the money…it is in the best interest of public peace and order to parade these 74 suspects so that parents and guardians will be aware of the severity of committed offences. This will act as deterrents from indulging in hard drugs and other crimes committed across the state,” Aliyu said.

He appealed to parents and guardians to advise their children and wards to stop consuming illicit drugs.
