Ghanaian Police Team Debuts At Prudent Energy Handball Premier League

Gteam will be making ta debut on a non-scoring basis, as the Prudent Energy Handball League, which kicks off today at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos State. The Ghanaian club, which is expected to add internatio­nal excitement to the championsh­ip, will contest for honours in the female category alongside 10 other Nigerian teams that include Abia Valiant, Defender Babes, Desert Queens, Edo Dynamos, Imo Grasshoppe­rs, Kada Queens, Owena Queens, Plateau Peacocks, Safety Babes and Seasider Babes.

While Kano Pillars, Borno Spiders, COAS Shooters, De Defenders, Kada Stars, Niger United, Owena Kings, Plateau Vipers, Prison Key Boys, Rima Strikers, Safety Shooters and Seasiders totaling 12 teams will compete for laurels in the 14 days championsh­ip. According to the Secretary of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Maigidasan­ma Mohammed, the invitation of the visiting team was to further seal the mutual treaty between two federation­s and to add global influence to the event.

Welcoming the teams yesterday, HFN President, Sam Ocheho, appealed to the participan­ts to avoid hostility and behave themselves in a profession­al conduct, adding that abiding to the rules of the game is key to their success in the premier league championsh­ip.

Kano Pillars and Safety Babes currently top the table of the Premier League in both men and women’s categories as at the end of the first phase held in Abuja.
